Molinero: "The three points on Saturday are very important in order to get confidence”

Francisco Molinero spoke for the media in the press room at Luis del Sol Training Centre. The right back talked about the match against Real Sociedad and the importance of obtaining the first victory of the season to grow in confidence.

Shareholders meeting on the 23rd of September: “We are focused on the match against Real Sociedad. We’ve been working on it for the last two weeks. We only think about that match and that we have a very important match at home that we must win.”

Is it complicated to be focused?: “We are professionals, we come here every day to train. We worry about our stuff so there’s no time to think about things that don’t depend on us. We can talk, think and worry about the ball, nothing else.”

How will Betis be on Saturday?: “We know the guidelines that we must follow and the way of playing that we want. We have been working on this since the manager arrived last year. We played a great match against Villarreal CF. I think that’s the path to follow, playing with good pace and intensity. We need to try to make difficult for Real Sociedad to play and win every second chance. We will play in front of our people so the three points are vital.”

You played as left back against Real Madrid CF: “It wasn’t weird for me. I’ve played there before and we worked on it. Obviously, I’m a right back, but it isn’t difficult for me to play as left back.”

Next week, away against Valencia CF. Could it be a match under pressure if you don’t win on Saturday?: “We’ve just started, there’s still a lot yet to come. It’s important to win on Saturday because we haven’t done it so yet. Now we play at home again, against a rival that didn’t start off well either, but every team is dangerous in La Liga. All the matches are going to be tough. We want to win. We need to be strong when playing at home because it’s important for the team to be strong in our stadium and get as many points as we can here.”

Joaquín: “Everybody knows him. There’s no need to say what he’s going to bring to the team. He’s happy at home. He’s top quality, and has shown it in all these years.”

What’s the target for Real Betis this season?: “I only want to win on Saturday. We need to go in this way, match after match. We have a balanced and competitive team. A good group makes the players better individually. There are a lot of new people, but that’s why we need the preseason and the firs matches, to get to know each other. The team will grow in confidence if the results are positive, that’s why is so important to win on Saturday. All the new players are very good and they’ll show it for everyone’s sake.”

Critics to the team’s defense: “It seems that there’s an obsession with the defenders. When we talk about defense we are not only talking about 4 guys but the whole team. The team defends with 11 players, and in the same way in attack. But in the end everybody looks at the defenders. We know what we want both in defense and in attack, a team that works together. The manager always highlights this and that’s what we try. Then you have to face rivals that play like you, that are good players and know how to score. We’ll concede goals and we’ll score too, that’s football. We need to wipe out our obsessions, we’re a team. When we win, we all win, and the same when we lose.”
