Rennella: "The season will go well if we are united"

The Franco-Italian striker attended representatives of the media at midday from the Silken Al-Andalus Hotel. Rennella, who scored his first goal for the entity in the King's Cup match against UE Llagostera, stressed the need to get the three points at Girona to recover support and put the recent run of two league defeats behind them. Unity, understood to be the basis for the teams return to the First Division, was called for by the green-and-white forward.

How does the team feel after the recent results?: “We are keen to play to turn the situation around and give a better performance on the pitch. I do not think that there is a feeling of nervousness, but there is a desire not to repeat what happened last year. I think the team is really focussed on achieving their objective”.

At the moment you are not a starter: “That's the boss's decision, every player wants to play all the time. For the moment I have to wait, I hope to be able to play in the future”.

Two consecutive league defeats: “The manager is doing all he can to achieve our objective. We have had two consecutive defeats but it is the players who are to blame. The boss is doing a good job”.

Despite not being a starter, you are making the most of the match minutes Velázquez is giving you: “I am taking advantage of them. I hope to prove to the boss that he can count on me as a starter. No one likes keeping the bench warm, but that's the manager's decision. This has just got underway, we have to be patient”.

Signs of nerves in the stands: “You can tell the crowd at the matches are nervous, mainly because of what happened last year. When the team scored a goal last year there were more to come. You have to hold your head up high, we should all be united so that things go well”.

Is a psychologist needed to boost the teams morale?: “No, I don't think that would be necessary. Those of us who are new here, including the boss, we have to help those who were in the team last year to change their mindset. Between us, that is what we are doing. We have come to this Club with great enthusiasm”.

Unity to achieve the objective: “Every team has to be as one, there is no need for us to look for a leader, we should all be leaders. We have to move forward as a group, the season will go well if we are united”.

The match in Girona: “It is a very important match. After two defeats we cannot afford another. It is going to be a hard match at a difficult ground, but it is a good opportunity for us to turn things around”.

The UEFA Europa League starts today, last year the team was playing in this competition: “We have to forget about the past and look to the future. At the moment we are in the Second Division. To get back to playing those kind of matches we have to work hard”.
