Rennella: “We need to go on and raise our heads”

Vincenzo Rennella talked with Betis TV in Benito Villamarín Stadium after the match against RCD Espanyol (1-3). The French-Italian striker, who scored the only goal for Betis, analysed the defeat: “We started the match in a bad way, conceding a goal in set pieces and then it took a while for us to get back in the game but they killed us in a counterattack. Now we need to focus on the next match and raise our heads because we were coming from two victories in a row away. This is mistake at home, but it’s time to move on.”

Early goals: “That killed us. We conceded the first in the 3rd minute, we dropped our heads and it’s really difficult to come back against a team like Espanyol. In the second goal they made the perfect counterattack and it was over then.”

First goal in La Liga: “I’m happy with the goal but I expected a different match to do it so. Now we need to think about the team and be prepared for the match in Granada.”

Next match: “It will be a tough match so we need to start thinking about it. We’ll try to get the three points there.”

In the same terms spoke Petros: “If we had won we could have reached a good position in the table. We can’t lose more matches at home, we need to be strong with our fans behind us. We must work and fight to win again here.”

Was the early goal so decisive?: “Yes, because we had a plan and that changes everything. It’s time to move on, we have another important match next weekend and we must win again.”

End of the positive streak: “We were in good form and now we need to win the three points away to compensate the ones we lost today. We need to continue with same excitement.”
