Setién: “The faith of the team to overcome the bad start was huge”

Quique Setién has addressed the media at Roazhon Park after the match against Stade Rennais.

Match analysis: "We more or less expected a game like this, but we did not expect to be 2-0 after ten minutes. In the first play they did great, it was impressive. They dribbled a player in midfield and created that pass; well I don't know if it was a shot or a pass, and scored. In the other play, the match became really difficult, but step by step we got our composure back. We managed to get into the game. They were pressing really strong at the start, it wasn't easy to control the ball like then did. After the 20th or 25th minute, we have absolutely dominated the match. We had 4 or 5 chances to score in that moment. They came back to live with the third goal and we had to take more risks. They defended inside their area and we had the absolute control, but they have really pacey players who can hurt you."

Beginning of the match: "I think is more their merit than our fault. The goal was not an easy play. We went to press strong and overcame it. Then the second goal came in a play that wasn't easy to defend. We also had the injury of Junior and that is going to be a problem in the future, too. He was recovering and got injured again. We'll see how serious it is. Then the penalty, which I've been told it wasn't a penalty. It's curious to see how the linesman is the one who says it's a penalty, when the referee is much closer to the play and he let the game continue. It's hard to understand but these things happen. The play from canals in the second half was extraordinary and we could have gotten in the game much earlier. We scored 3 goals away from home, but we were not very accurate. They were much more. What I would outline is the huge faith the team showed to overcome the start and how they fought until the end to get a deserved draw that should have been something else."

Junior's injury and change for Lainez: "He's really sad. We'll wait for the tests. It seems like it could be for a long time. We thought to play Barragán then, but we were losing 2-0 and we decided to play Guardado on the left, play Lainez upfront and Sergio in the middle. It worked out and we had the control. Lainez played well today. Sometimes he does not find the place where he should be and he needs to improve his positioning.  We can already see that he's a player who does interesting things. The goal was unexpected. When I saw he as about to shoot I wanted him to cross, but he did well, he scored. That's why we brought him. For him to show and grow."

Stade Rennais: "We've seen what they're capable of. It's true they didn't control the match but they have really quick and talemted players. Footballers like Ben Arfa of Sarr, who are extraordinary, really fast and can hurt us. They now have to score and take more risks than what we saw today, with longer possessions and more players on our side of the pitch. We have to take advantage of the spaces. We have a slight advantage but I don't think is going to be easy at all."

Roazhon Park: "The pitch was not in the best conditions, but the atmosphere was amazing. The fans have been cheering all the time, yours and ours. The many béticos who came today have been constantly supporting, cheering and believing in the comeback."
