Physical work in the first session on Monday

After the holiday period having trained yesterday for the first time in this pre-season programme, the team coached by Julio Velázquez returned to work this morning on the turf at the Luis del Sol Training Centre. The group divided in two parts started to train with increased workload for the first days of preparation for the forthcoming season. A week in which the pupils of the coach from Salamanca will be training in the city of Seville until Wednesday, when they will set out for San Pedro del Pinatar for the first of the training camps away from the club which will continue until the start of the season.

This morning a total of 13 players completed their medical examinations, which unlike previous seasons thanks to the new facilities at the Training Centre were able to be performed in the same location as the training sessions. The medical examination was composed of cardiology testing, health monitoring (spirometry, audiometry, visual field study, electro, study of reflexes, locomotor exploration), folds, static and dynamic biomechanics and podiatric exploration.Adán, Dani Giménez, Pedro, Juanfran, Molinero, Jordi Figueras, Perquis, Álex Martínez, Nono, Xavi Torres, Vadillo, Chuli and Rennellahave passed the various medical tests, while the rest of the squad exercised under the command of the coach from Salamanca, and under the watchful gaze of the public who gathered in the stands to monitor the evolution of the players.

The work undertaken in the first activity of the day was clearly oriented towards physical development with a series of highly demanding physical circuits that aim to improve strength for the start of the season. Also, the players who completed the strength and power workouts continued the session in the Training Centre gym. In terms of injuries, the situation was the same as yesterday morning, affecting the player from Chile  Lolo Reyes. The midfielder, suffering a sprained left knee, was once again unable to train.

In any case, despite the harshness of the first session of the week, the Betis squad will continue exercising this afternoon at the Benito Villamarín Stadium. That will be when physical training gives way to work with the ball and rehearsing different tactical variations for the forthcoming friendly matches in this pre-season programme. The second training session of the day will be held at 7:30 PM and will be open to those members of the public who would like to attend. Tomorrow's training sessions will follow the same dynamic as today's, and the remaining players will undergo the medical tests.
