Van Wolfswinkel: “Playing in a Club like Real Betis is a great challenge in my career”
Ricky Van Wolfswinkel has been presented in the press room at Benito Villamarín Stadium as new Real Betis Balompié player. The Dutch player started his speech thanking both chairman Juan Carlos Ollero and Eduardo Macià for the opportunity of becoming part of the Green-and-White Club. “I’m very happy to be here. Playing in a Club like Real Betis is a great challenge in my career. I’m eager to start the season to show the fans and the Club why I’m here. I’m ready to work hard to take the Club to a higher level and make everyone happy with my performances.. Coming to such a big Club as Betis is a great opportunity for me. My first impressions have been very good. I trained with the team for the first time and it’s a great group.”
How would you define yourself as a player?: “I play well combining with my teammates. I think I have a good technique and moving ability in the attacking zone. I like to run towards the goal not only to finish, but also to give assists if needed.”
Would you like to get back to the level you showed in Portugal?: “I’ve already played some official matches this season and they were good so I’m ready for the competition. I did well in Portugal and I hope I can get back to that level, at least. I hope I can show it here in Betis.”
Did you hear about any of your new teammates before?: “Of course, I’ve Heard of many of them before. But now that you mention Joaquín, I know he is a legend here and I hope I can play well beside him. Hopefully, I can score many of the crosses he gives to me and have a good connection during the matches. I also hope to connect well with Rubén Castro to help the team as much as we can in attack.”
Joaquín’s presentation: “Yes, of course I saw how crazy it was. It shows the fans are really behind the team. The teams I’ve always performed the best were the ones with the most passionate fans. That motivates me, that’s why I think Betis is the perfect Club for me.”
