Green of hope: the hallmark of Real Betis second kit in the fight against bullying
Real Betis Balompié and hummel present their second kit for the 2026/27 season: a design that brings back green in various shades, carrying strong symbolic value as an allegory of hope and an expression of the identity and tradition of the city of Seville.
On the inside of the collar, the shirt bears the title "Verde Esperanza" ("Green of Hope"), a message linked to the new anti-bullying prevention campaign launched by the Fundación Real Betis Balompié in collaboration with AEPAE.
Through various initiatives to be carried out throughout the 2026/27 season, Real Betis and its Foundation aim to equip families, teachers and young people with prevention tools, while also raising visibility around an issue that, according to UNESCO, affects nearly one in three students worldwide, with serious consequences for their mental health.
Over the course of the 2026/27 season, AEPAE will run four prevention and awareness workshops on school bullying, aimed at young players from the men's academy, the women's academy, the Foundation's football school, and the Monsalvete football school in the Tres Mil Viviendas neighbourhood, which carries a strong social component.
The goal is for all these young people to become familiar with this type of situation, to be able to recognise it, and to become small-scale leaders and agents of change, influential figures and role models of empathy, solidarity and courage in the face of school bullying.
Likewise, AEPAE will organise the School Bullying Prevention Conference in Seville, at which the association will present its report on the state of school bullying in Spain, spanning from the country's first widely reported bullying-related suicide 22 years ago through to the case of Sandra Peña, offering solutions across educational, social, therapeutic, legal and digital areas.
At the close of the 2026/27 season, the same organisation will launch a therapeutic summer camp for victims of school bullying: a transformative week in which young people rebuild their self-esteem and their will to live, supported by a team of AEPAE specialists.
Real Betis and its Foundation will contribute their own human and logistical resources to the project throughout the season. In addition, proceeds from the sale of 365 of these new shirts, one for every day of the year, will be used to broaden the project's reach.
The Club will also collaborate with the Agente Tutor project run by Seville's Local Police, with specific school awareness talks delivered through the "Del Cole al Betis" school visit programme.
The launch of this social project took place through Real Betis's digital channels, with the participation of the family of Sandra Peña, a young Betis member who took her own life in October 2025 after telling those close to her that she was suffering from school bullying.
SEVILLE AND THE GREEN OF HOPE
Beyond its use of green, the shirt incorporates decorative elements linked to embroidery, sacred art, tilework, goldsmithing and ceramics, distinctive features of local craftsmanship.
Continuing the allegory of Hope, the design draws inspiration from two masterpieces of Sevillian embroidery: the mesh mantle of the Esperanza Macarena, popularly known as the "Camaronero" mantle, designed and embroidered by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Ojeda in 1900; and the mantle of the Esperanza de Triana, designed by Juan Borrero in 1992 and produced by the Sobrinos de Esperanza Elena Caro workshop in 1993, later restored in 2024 by the Charo Bernardino workshop.
The garment also includes other recognisable elements from this iconography, such as the royal crown, closely linked to Real Betis since 1914; the heraldic anchor, representing hope; and the "mariquillas" of the Macarena.
Floral, geometric and classical motifs dominate the new shirt, evoking the damask fabric used in tapestries, mantles, mantones de manila (embroidered silk shawls), and traditional craftsmanship more broadly.
This personalised design carries through to the ribbing, which provides fit and elasticity. The Real Betis Balompié crest and the hummel logo are both applied to the garment using embroidery.
The new shirt features TechPro technology, a textile solution combining comfort, adaptability and functional performance during use, with a balanced structure between lightness, durability, breathability and thermal comfort.
In this way, Real Betis Balompié and hummel present a piece in which textile design, technical innovation and Seville's artistic heritage, evoking Hope, come together in a product designed to embody green-and-white pride with the utmost excellence.
The shirt is now available in Real Betis's physical stores and online store and will be worn for the first time by the first team against Recreativo de Huelva in the 57th edition of the Trofeo Colombino, taking place this Wednesday, 22 July, in the city of Huelva.
