Real Betis Balompié saw today their positive streak broken in their visit to Wanda Metropolitano. The Green and Whites were overcome by Atletico de Madrid in almost all aspects of the game.
The game started with high pace and both teams fighting for the possession. Betis had a couple of early chances. However, step by step, Atletico started to control the possession and the pace of the game. This way, in the 26th minute, Carrasco gave the home side the lead after a good personal play.
Just after half time, Atletico scored again, but the goal by Hermoso was disallowed for offside. In spite of this, Betis had come on the pitch with a different approach and had chances to level the score up. Carvalho first and then Willian José got really close to scoring in two consecutive chances. But the reaction faded away when Pezzella score dan own goal in a corner kick.
The third goal for Atletico came ten minutes before the end in a counterattack finished by Joao Félix. The goal was reviewed by the VAR for a possible offside but it was finally declared valid.
