Real Betis got badly beaten in Germany
A night to forget for real Betis in Germany. The team received four goals against Bayer Leverkusen in a game in which the rivals were clearly superior. On top of the defeat, Fekir was sent off in the last play of the game for a row with Demirbay, who also saw a red card.
The game did not start bad for Betis, as the team tried to attack and had the ball more in the first 15 minutes of play. But then, Bayer started to improve due to their higher speed and intensity. Fekir, though, had a good chance to give the Green and Whites the lead. Four minutes before the end of the first half, the home team score through Diaby.
Once in the second half, the Germans only needed five minutes to double their lead, again through Diaby. From that moment, Betis improved and had the possession, trying to attack. On the other side, Bayer were waiting, defending well and trying to counterattack using their high pace. The best for Betis was a free-kick delivered by Fekir that hit the post.
In the final minutes, as result of two counterattacks, Bayer closed the score. In the added time, an ugly row between Demirbay and Fekir ended with both players being sent-off.
