Real Betis Balompié got a draw (1-1) in La Liga's opening game against Elche CF at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. Aitor Ruibal, previously assisted by Rodrigo Riquelme, scored the only Verdiblanco goal in the 21st minute.
