Héctor Bellerín receives the BBC Green Sport Award
The Real Betis defender has been recognized by the BBC for his responsible lifestyle and his work to raise awareness through sport
Real Betis Balompié player Héctor Bellerín has been recognized with the BBC Green Sport Award, an award that honors athletes who stand out for their commitment to sustainability and the environment.
Bellerín has been recognized for his personal commitment to responsible habits, such as wearing second-hand clothes and traveling by bicycle, and for using his visibility as a soccer player to convey messages of awareness. "Every time someone puts a microphone in front of you, you have the opportunity to talk about issues that matter," he explained in an interview with the British broadcaster.
The footballer also highlighted the role of Real Betis and the Foundation, with which he collaborates on various initiatives, including Forever Green, as an example of how sport can contribute to promoting sustainability from a football club: "Betis is not just a football club. It's a place where people can grow, receive support, and feel part of something bigger. Being part of that is incredibly rewarding."
The award given to Bellerín reflects the importance of Real Betis and its Foundation continuing to promote a clear message of commitment to sustainability and society.
