Real Betis Balompié began their LaLiga campaign with a 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad, who pushed for an equaliser until the final whistle.

After an evenly contested first half, Rodrigo Riquelme broke the deadlock in the second period thanks to a cross from Cucho Hernández in the 63rd minute. The scoreline remained unchanged for the rest of the match.
