Jerónimo

The birth of Jerónimo

During the 1998/99 season the club held a competition to design a mascot for the team. The winning entry was that of Antonio Ocaña, a businessman and season ticket holder. Jerónimo, who steals the show at every CB Sevilla game and during his public appearances, is inspired by Ferdinando, a Disney character, whilst his name is a small homage to the San Jerónimo area of the city, where his creator hails from.

Dancing on the court, offering constant support to the players, jumping into the crowd, handing out sweets and playing with youngsters are just some of the things Jerónimo gets up to on a match day, with many considering him an important part of the entertainment on offer at the San Pablo.

In 2013, Jerónimo was redesigned by Character Design, who created a new profile based on a caricature of a typical Spanish fighting Bull from the Miura Cattle Ranch (in Sevilla), with the colours coninciding with the red and green of the club.
