Born in Seville in 1947. A Doctor of Law. He was the president of the Junta de Andalucía between 1984 and 1990. A senator, member of the Andalusian parliament and councilman for the city of Seville, he is currently retired from public life. In 1991 he was named Andalusia's favourite son.
