Real Betis and hummel merge historical designs and symbols in the Retro Matchday promoted by LaLiga
Both the outfield players and the first-team goalkeeper will wear these special edition garments, inspired by past decades, during the 31st matchday clash against CA Osasuna, which will take place at Estadio El Sadar
Real Betis and hummel unveiled at Fashion Week Madrid ?Spain's leading fashion runway event held at IFEMA? the kits that the first team will wear for the upcoming LALIGA Retro Matchday, which will take place between March 10 and 13.
Through this LALIGA initiative, 38 clubs from the first and second division will play their matches wearing kits that evoke designs and symbols from past decades, with the aim of turning each club's history into "an experience that moves fans," acting as a bridge between generations, connecting the origins of supporters and bringing together fashion and football on the pitch itself.
For the occasion, Real Betis and hummel have opted to merge historical designs and symbols in the kits that both outfield players and the goalkeeper will wear in the Matchday 31 fixture against CA Osasuna at El Sadar: green-and-white stripes inspired by the characteristic designs of the 1960s and 70s; an open white collar with a V-neck finish and slight lapel, typical of the 1980s; and an embroidered crest, as featured in some collections from the 1990s.
The match shirt features a classic construction in terms of pattern, straight and simple ?common in 20th-century garments? with a standard thickness of the green-and-white stripes. The fabric is highly breathable, matte, and adapted to modern standards, combining elasticity and freshness to ensure players' comfort during the match.
This retrospective puzzle is completed with the hummel logo, which returns to its original design dating back to 1923, while the crest is embroidered, reviving the version used by Real Betis during the 1990s.
The retro collection also includes the goalkeeper kit. For this occasion, it recreates the attire worn by goalkeepers in the second half of the 1970s and much of the 1980s ?two-tone garments in which the understated black colour played a leading role. The design combines this nod to the past with long black sleeves featuring a sequence of chevrons running lengthwise, hummel's unmistakable signature, in green and white.
The garment also pays tribute to the iconic jersey worn by the Danish brand's national team goalkeepers during the 1986 FIFA World Cup, featuring mauve tones and a multi-line base specifically designed for this Retro Matchday (Pantone Lavender and Violet Tulip).
Water polo player Paula Leitón, gold medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and pianist James Rhodes, both well-known Betis fans, served as the Club's ambassadors at the presentation of these garments at Fashion Week Madrid, held this Thursday at IFEMA.
The kit is now available in the Real Betis Balompié online store.
