MATCH REPORT | To the semi-finals! (0-4)
Real Betis put on a fantastic performance in San Sebastián
Real Betis Balompié will play the Copa del Rey semi-finals. Ina memorable night, the team put four past Real Sociedad in San Sebastián. Juanmi, twice, Willian José and Aitor Ruibal scored the goals. As valuable as a goal was a save from Rui Silva when the score was 0-1. One of the saves of season.
The match began with Betis attacking, trying to get to the opposite goal. This way, Juanmi scored in the 12th minute after a superb play from Carvalho. Real Sociedad pushed after the goal and tried to level the score.
Oyarzabal tried from distance to meet a good save by Rui Silva. Then, Le Normand hit the post with a header. Januzaj did score before half time, but the VAR disallowed the goal for offside.
At the start of the second half, Real Sociedad had their best moments and were close to score. Isak found himself in front of goal, alone, but Rui Silva produced an astonishing save to deny the Swede. The save seemed to give the team wings. Juanmi scored soon afterwards after a good assist from Alex Moreno.
From that moment until the end, Real pushed, but more off pride than good combinations. Betis were defending really well and counterattacking with danger. In one of those plays, the VAR called the referee for a clear handball inside Real Sociedad's área. Willian José took the responsibility and did not miss. Five minutes later, Ruibal received a great long pass from Víctor Ruiz and finished in style.
