Ahead of Real Betis' trip to Dublin to take on Arsenal, the Club paid tribute to Patrick O'Connell (1887-1959), who went on to manage the verdiblancos for three seasons in the 1930s, guiding them to their only LaLiga title in 1935.

A Club delegation, led by CEO Ramón Alarcón, Rafael Gordillo (Director of Institutional Relations and President of the Foundation) and Julio Jiménez Heras (Director of Communications and External Relations), visited O'Connell's boyhood home at 87 Fitzroy Avenue in Drumcondra, where a Dublin City Council plaque, unveiled in 2015, honours his career on both sides of the touchline.

Real Betis were joined for the occasion by the club's supporters' branches from London, Edinburgh and Blyth, along with the Patrick O'Connell Memorial Fund, set up by English and Irish fans to bring the story of "Don Patricio" back into the light.
